Diploma in Civil Engineering is a full time 3 years skill-based course affiliated by Haryana State Board of Technical Education, Panchkula and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).  Diploma in Civil Engineering at RIET, Faridabad focuses on designing, planning, constructing, and maintenance of  physically and naturally- built environments such as bridges, roads, canals, and buildings and dams and environmental aspects of civil engineering

The department has well qualified and experienced faculty from different field of civil engineering who are not only involved in the academic but also research activities. Students of the department are being continuously monitored and mentored for their overall development. Department of Civil Engineering regularly conducts seminars, workshops for development of students.

Well-equipped laboratories enable students to augment their practical knowledge. As per HSBTE curriculum department has following Laboratories:

Fluid Mechanics

This lab deals with basic concepts and principles in hydrostatics, hydro kinematics and hydrodynamics and their application in solving fluid – mechanics problems.

Structural Mechanics

The purpose of this lab is to impart basic knowledge and skill regarding properties of materials, concept of stresses and strains, bending moment and shear force diagrams, second moment of area, bending and shear stresses, slope and deflection and analysis of trusses. Which will be useful for designing simple structural components.

Surveying - I

The function of this lab is detailed surveying, plotting of survey data, preparation of survey maps and setting out works according to drawing.

Construction Materials

The students will get requisite knowledge regarding characteristics, uses and availability of various building materials and skills in conducting tests to determine suitability of materials for various construction purposes.

Building Construction

Students will get knowledge of various sub components of buildings like foundations, walls, roofs, staircases, floors etc., and their constructional details as well as preventive, remedial and corrective methods of common construction faults.

Concrete Technology

The objective of this lab is to impart knowledge and skills regarding ingredients of concrete and their properties.

Water supply & Waste water Engineering:

This lab provides basic knowledge and skills in the field of water supply system and waste disposal system.

Surveying - II:

This lab provides knowledge and skill in theodolite surveying, tachometry surveying, curves and use of minor and modern instruments.

Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering:

This lab covers identification and classification of different types of soils, their selection and proper use in the field for various types of engineering structures.

Highway Engineering

This lab covers basic concepts of construction and maintenance of highways and airports like road geo-metrics, surveys and plans, elements of traffic engineering, road materials, construction of rigid and flexible pavements, special features of hill roads, road drainage system, etc.

Computer Applications in Civil Engineering

This lab emphasize on the use of computers effectively in problem solving as well as applications of various computer software’s in Civil Engineering.

Plumbing Services

This lab provides the knowledge of plumbing procedures, processes, equipment, safety requirements etc. as well as students will be able to demonstrate all practical aspects of plumbing so as to effectively lead team of plumbers and ensure execution of quality work.

Quantity Surveying & Valuation

  • This lab helps the student in preparing the material estimates for various Civil Engineering works namely; buildings, irrigation works, public health works and roads etc.
